IT Certification Program

Even for those who don’t know much about computers or Windows, these classes are for anyone with a desire to explore a new career path. A student does not need to have experience in supporting Windows or working in a networked environment. A technical assessment is conducted by an ATTP Instructor during course registration. Based on that assessment, specific classes and IT certification tracks are selected that match the interest and appropriate knowledge and skill level of the student. The speed that a student progresses through the course is controlled by the student. This is not a boot camp style environment so everyone works at a different pace. Some students will work faster than others, but the ATTP Instructors work to keep students engaged with common material and on their pre-determined curriculum to ensure consistent learning and opportunity to sit for certification exams.

The ATTP Instructors ask for contact information, including address, phone number, and email address. Then they have a short dialogue with soldiers on their understanding and use of computers, including a review of operating systems, types of applications that are used, and knowledge of hardware, software and telecommunications. A focus is placed on the soldier’s initial and long-range goals. Then, there is also a discussion if any peripheral devices, such as assistive technology (AT), will be used in the classroom. Last, the ATTP Instructors ask if the soldiers will have access to a computer, either desktop or laptop, while they are enrolled in the ATTP.

This program now has approval as a part of a patient’s rehabilitation program. Attendance reports are maintained and forwarded to the student’s command.
