WRAMC/AFCEA Mentoring ProgramWRAMC is partnering with the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) to provide mentoring to IT certification students. What is AFCEA?AFCEA is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security. AFCEA has 20,000 individual members, 11,000 corporate associates, and 1,400 corporate members. Their members, sponsors and associates are among the world’s leading designers, planners, manufacturers, testers and users of systems, services and components for communications, intelligence, imaging and information systems. Companies that are participating include: Microsoft, CISCO, Accenture and many more! Will there be site visits?Although the program has events at WRAMC, there are field trips to local offices in order to see employees in their work environment and to discuss the realities of positions in the IT field. Are there job opportunities at these companies?Depending on the mentor, company and relationship, there are possibilities for employment opportunities with these organizations. They have a stated commitment to hiring students certified via the ATTP and have identified a willingness to introduce students to personnel in their human resource departments to assist in the employment process. |
